Fiaker
(from the French fiacre)

As famous as the gondolas of Venice, the horse drawn coaches of Vienna are a romantic and picturesque sight. Check the length of journey and price with the driver before you go - expect to pay about £50 for a short trip. The driver (also known as a Fiaker) will point out the sights on the way.

The horses appear to be well cared for - you can see them being given water on hot days. These days you'll see more female drivers than there used to be.

Pick up a Fiaker behind the Stefansdom, Heldenplatz (Hofburg), or Albertinaplatz.
