| Opened in 1905, the Prückel was modernised after the war and the decor now has the faded elegance of the 1950s - a large clock, chandelier, fixtures and fittings which always remind me of being on board a ship, and very high ceilings.

 The coffee and food are good - the tables have formica tops, but they'll lay a starched white tablecloth if you order a meal.

In the evenings there are sometimes poetry recitals and piano music.

Is this the best café in Vienna? IMHO Yes! It's the whole effect and ambience - not for everyone perhaps, but I love it!  |
