Recently restored to its former glory, Café Central was a meeting place for authors and free thinkers. A life size papier maché figure of the essayist Peter Altenberg sits by the door - he was a frequent visitor.
Behind the café is the Freyung Passage which is a beautiful arcade of shops and includes a fountain and balustraded staircase.
